RE: 5th. Annual Danforth Bay Fall Rally, NH, Oct. 10-13, 2008

Hi All, Just a reminder, please let me know what you can bring for the pot luck dinner. We could use some desserts and more dishes. Also, if someone could bring potato or pasta salad and chips for our Fri. night cookout, that would be great. Napkins too! We still have 2 sites available if anyone wants them. Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weekend!

Misty May is my daughter's all time favorite idol seeing she plays volleyball also. I love watching them play beach volleyball. It always amazes me how fast they are along with the amazing kills/digs they make. Gerry, I bet you and your beach studs are ready to take on this USA team by now, right?

RE: 5th. Annual Danforth Bay Fall Rally, NH, Oct. 10-13, 2008

On another note, can anyone tell me how the traffic usually is from Rochester, NH to Freedom, NH on RT. 16? Is it really slow due to traffic? I'm debating changing my usual route (101-93-104-25-16) which is 109 mi. at 2hrs. and 20 mins with no traffic to try to avoid the massive traffic jam from Bow through Cantebury on 93N. So my options are 101-125-16 which is 109 mi. 2 hrs. 28 mins, or 101-93-28-16 which is 100 mi, 2hrs. 33 mins. I'm just not sure if going either of these two ways would be better or worse than what I am travelling now traffic-wise. If anyone knows what my better option would be, please let me know. With it being a holiday weekend, it's probably a cr*p shoot either way.

Nancy, this would definitely be appropriate for your family. We have had children of all ages attend this rally. And the kids would get a hoot out of the halloween costumes and trick-or-treating they do that weekend. We'd be happy to have you join us if you want to meet this great group of people.

Steve, let me know how you like Ashuelot River campground. We have a baseball tournament in Swanzey every year and usually stay at the Swanzey Lake Campground, but the road is very tight in there for our 5th. wheel so we end up staying in the group area with the rest of our team. But it is only 5 mins. from the field, so it's very convenient. I've always wondered how Ashuelot was.

Hi Hutch, thanks for offering to do the hot dogs and hamburgers again this year. Our Friday night cookout is always a treat, especially when cooked by our grand rally poobahs! Let me know if you want me to post other food items for folks to bring - hot dog/hamburger rolls, chips, condiments - along with some sort of salad (potato, pasta). Jay, enjoy your first day back at work! sis, boom, bah!!!!

RE: 5th. Annual Danforth Bay Fall Rally, NH, Oct. 10-13, 2008

We've been to the Keene Pumpkin Fest before. It's really cool to see all the thousands of pumpkins lit up on staging at night. They have all kinds of vendors too. Just beware that the traffic line going into Keene is crazy and people are shoulder to shoulder in the center of town. The traffic starts on the RTE 101 bypass in Milford and goes all the way into Keene and that's an hour away at that point, without traffic. We had to form an unbreakable human chain with our kids and our neighbor's kids working our way through the crowd so we wouldn't lose anyone. If you're staying up there, then you won't have to deal with the traffic all the way up, but it will still be crowded. It's fun to see once, but I probably wouldn't do it again just because of the huge number of people there. One other thing, they have busses at the school to bring people to the center of town due to limited parking.

We just did the Mendenhall Glacier tour by helicopter in Juneau and it was fantastic! The views were just incredible and worth the money to see.

RE: Alaska- Weather & Mosquitoes

Having just returned from Alaska, Jul. 29 - Aug. 9, I can vouch that we saw very few mosquitos, and that was even while hiking and zip lining in the rain forest (yes, Alaska does have rain forests - called temporate rain forests). I took bug spray with me, but never ended up having to use it. Our guides did tell us that the mosquito population in the earlier summer months was extemely bad, especially this year seeing they've had the wettest summer on record in 41 years. As far as the rain, summer months are their rainy season, so no matter what month, you take your chances. Our weather in Fairbanks was rainy/cloudy, but we got lucky and had some sunny days in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan and even for a short time, in Denali Park, which allowed us a beautiful view of Mt. McKinley. I have been there twice during the last week of July and first week of August and was happy with the weather/bugs both times. Of course, nothing is a guarantee. Enjoy your trip!

RE: 5th. Annual Danforth Bay Fall Rally, NH, Oct. 10-13, 2008

Just a reminder, we have a couple of open sites reserved if anyone is interested. First come first serve. Let me know ASAP if you or someone you know would like to join us for the rally. The campground is currently full for the weekend, and the waiting list is long, so don't procrastinate. Please take a look at the first page and let me know if you would be willing to bring any of the supplies not currently accounted for and what your dish/dessert is that you will be bringing for the pot-luck dinner. I'm assuming Steve and Liz are working their fingers to the bone creating their next stupendous halloween costumes. Can't wait to see what the dynamic duo come up with this year!
